(Scarborough, Tobago – January 2nd , 2018): At exactly 4:00 p.m. on January 1st, thirty-seven-year-old Lorna Campbell gave birth to Tobago’s first baby for 2018! The 6.9 lb baby was delivered by Midwife Lisa Sandy and will join his three siblings in the coming days.
Lorna, a Registered Nurse currently employed at the TRHA Geriatric Unit, is from Les Coteaux Road, Mason Hall. She stated that her experience was very smooth as she received a lot of support from the staff, especially her midwife. “It was a beautiful experience! My colleagues ensured that I was comfortable and communicated with me all the way. Everyone was very supportive and Midwife Lisa was excellent,” stated Ms. Campbell.
Deputy Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Tobago Regional Health Authority (TRHA), Ms. Ingrid Melville, brought greetings on behalf of the Division of Health, Wellness and Family Development and the TRHA.
“I am so happy to present this hamper to you Lorna on the birth of your son. Congratulations! I know that you will take excellent care of him and he will bring you and your family a lot of joy,” said Ms. Melville.
Another TRHA member of staff, Shunelle Roberts, a Registered Nurse from the Dialysis Department, delivered Tobago’s second New Year’s Day baby at 10:01 p.m. He weighed in at 8 lbs 8 ounces.
