Overview

This unit has three functional centres located at Scarborough Health Centre, Canaan Health Centre and Roxborough Health Centre. Each centre is staffed with Dentists, Dental Nurses, Dental Assistants and Clerical Assistants.

The purpose of the Dental Unit is to provide dental care to the population through dental health education, examination, fillings, extractions and prophylactic treatments. The public can call or come into any of the above centers for information, to make appointments or to access treatment.

Dental Nurses treat children from two and a half years to twelve years. Dentists treat the secondary school students and adults. Prior to treatment, parents are required to complete a medical history and consent form for each child. Currently, dental examinations and extractions are done for the adult patients.
